There is definitely no hocky in China. Sports are famous in China such as basketball, volley ball and table tennis etc. Some of the people get confused with Kung fu, that does not count on a sport at all.
Compare with Mainland of China, the school education system are very different from Hong Kong and Macau. No suspect and no matter where, it is very stressful to study in China. In my city, Macau, we have 4 semesters per year. We would never have any spares during school time. My high school in Macau is a Christian school and it starts frin 8:05am to 12:05 pm, lunch, and go back to school for classes at 2. Mostly, 4:25pm will be the end of the school. Mostly, students would not stay in school for lunch because it is a very small city so we do have enough time to get home and eat and go back to school. We have saturday and sunday off. It depends on the different school. Not many students attend to the activities after school. When we are in grade 10, the school will cancel music this subject. We do not have a choice to choose the subjects that we want. All of the students are learnging the same thing. The people that you see at the first day of the school, they will absolutely be your whole year long classmates because we are taking the same subjects together for the whole year. When we have classes, we do not have to change classrooms, the teachers will come. No cell phone, no gameboy, no computer, no locker in school. We are not allowed to have ANY food(gum, candy, chocolate, chips) in school, students have to go out of the classroom to drink water. Be sure at first, you have to get the teacher's permission. Carry all of the books that we bought in the beggining of the year to go to school everyday, it is NOT allowed to leave it in the school. As everyone knows, asians have natural straight black hair, so students are not allowed to color and perm their hair. Once teachers found it out, students will get a yellow warning card and will be ask to get home to color it back to black immidiately, same as if you wear the wrong uniform(gym). We have to wear uniform in school, there is no private and public schools divied. Wearing the wrong uniform(gym uniform) during the exams days, you will be able to write the exams and actually not even can step into the school.

Students typically get their music background
Typically, students get their music background through the music shops. There is a lot of teachers there in the shop. You might get a differnt teacher for you piano skill classes, theory, listening and singing. When I was in China, I had two teachers. One is for my piano skill. Theory, listening and singing are the same teacher. But there are still some of the people go to teacher's apartment to learn music. It depends on the teacher that people want. But basically, students learn music from the music shop. Some experience teachers will have their own indiviual rooms.
Differences or similarities between your country and Canada
Chinese wash their clothes, socks, underwears, and towels separately. They believe the socks, clothes and jeans will get so many germs when we wear it outside so they wash it separately, not with underwears. This is what I found the big different. Canadians and Chinese love music the same but in differnt ways. Canadians enjoy music more than Chinese do because the teachers are strict on the techiniques for the instrument. They also request students to understand and feel the music but students are stress out about the techniques so basically when they play, they are doing whatever the teacher has told them to do. Not really from what they want and really thinking about the music. Also, Canadians say it out loud that they love music but Chinese do not. It is very sad to say this, but this is the truth. There are a lot of sad love songs from China which drive me really crazy. Sometimes I want to listen some English songs because they are faster and wake me up. There is a movie called " the last song", it is a very sad movie for English people but I found it is okay. Not like extremely sad as the feeling that I get from some of the sad Chinese movies. I still love the Chinese music. I definitely like English music. Even though I found them are very different. I think I love music, this is why I can accept all kinds of music.
